about
To all those lovely people, places and things that help me get through life on this spinning ball going round the sun. I hope I can be as much help to you as you are to me.
Pictured is Mýrdalsjökull glacier in Iceland in 2019. It blows my mind that there’s an active “overdue” volcano under all this ice (all the black dirt is from eruptions hundreds of years ago!) and that life / nature / the environment can be so volatile yet predictable, fragile yet resilient, and violent yet gentle, all at once.

I come to you when I need propped up,
need a little help up;
But I think you need help too.
I come to you when I am worn out,
I'm overwhelmed and stressed out;
But these days I think you're tired too -
I know you need a break,
but the earth keeps turning and so time moves on.
You know that if I could I'd hold it back,
but instead I'm by your side,
Focusing on getting through, getting through the day.
Getting through.
I come to you when life gets heavy,
and I'm feeling weary;
But I think you need rest too.
I come to you when I hunger and thirst -
you've always put me first,
I think it's time I fed you too -
I know you need a break,
but the earth keeps turning and so time moves on.
You know that if I could I'd hold it back,
but instead I'm by your side,
Focusing on getting through, getting through the day.
Getting through.
Getting through feels like enough right now,
Though I've heard that time's a healer;
But then why as more time elapses
Does it feel like my whole world collapses?
I know you need a break,
but the earth keeps turning and so time moves on.
You know that if I could I'd hold it back,
but instead I'm by your side,
Focusing on getting through, getting through the day.
Getting through the week.
Getting through, getting through the month.
Getting through the year.
Getting through.
